Of biblical proportions!

There's some sick gratification riding to work this morning when the freeways are closed due to flooding.  I almost had the timing perfect to make the commute during a break in the clouds.  Unfortunately I was about 4 blocks off and got soaked. Ce la vie; I'm still grinning.

I made it before the Hail last night... But left puddles at each stop on the Parent/Teacher Conference Evening. LOL!

Made it to Dearborn PBL before the heavens opened up this morning. But I made it to work...

Left this morning just as the sky went pitch black. I learned that rain gear really only gets you so far, and the trashbag full of clothes in my backpack was essential. Also, I enjoy the evening severe weather rides more because the backed up traffic makes one big tunnel of fun. I brushed passed some 30-40 buses on Michigan yesterday evening!

With a combination of watching the radar and out the window, I managed to make it into work before another deluge. That has been the game plan for these April showers to bring May flowers and keeping fairly dry.

Walked.

Good reminder that drivers treat pedestrians like crap as well.

Took today off after a horrible ride home last night.  4 cars parked in the bike lane.  About twice that driving in the bike lane.  Two people threatened to kill me.  One car brake-checking me in the bike lane.

Ended up kicking in a headlight.  Ugh.

Biking home in a rainy rush hour is always the worst.

Second time experience: only once before last night have I had to cower under an underpass to avoid sideways rain, BB-sized sleet pellets and end-of-the-world lightning.

New experience: watching BB-sized hail bounce off my forearms and listening to it tap-tap-tap my helmet.

I've been riding all week.  Drivers are especially terrifying...

Also, you know it's a fun weather commute when you get to your location and google "cyclists struck  by lightning" just to see how often it's happened.

The hell!?

What part of the city do you ride?

Jason - Millenium Park bike garage to Wicker Park.

So Randolph to Dearborn PBL to Kinzie PBL to Milwaukee.  I swear these people turn into monsters as they sit in gridlock.
