The snow and ice are not issues today.  Fine snow that isn't even wetting the pavement and no water turning to ice.  The atmosphere is dry and soaking  up all of the moisture.    Its simply a question of tolerance for the wind chill and the degree to which headwinds are tolerated.  This isn't a dangerous ice storm.  It should be treated as cold and clear.

Agreed.  I had a good ride in.  Will have headwind going home, but then I have a hot shower and a cold beer waiting for me, yay!

I always know when Gene's in the Jewels on Montrose because his big rig is parked out front.

That sounds lovely. Looks like you'll get your weather wish by the weekend, if not sooner.

I had a couple of nice rides over the weekend. I'll probably be picking up my new bike this coming weekend.  :)

I have been in Fruit Cove, Florida (just south of Jacksonville) for two days and have managed to get a few miles in both days.  Roads are very nice.  Most have a good shoulder which they sometimes mark as bike lanes. The drivers are generally courteous except for the one who passed me and told me to get on the sidewalk.  Weather has been upper 40s and low 50s in the morning.  Must say it has been enjoyable, and I was not missing the temperatures in the teens.  Heading home tomorrow.  Could you folks try to get the temperatures back up to the 30s for me?

I am thankful today that I choose to wear a helmet... since my head bounced off the pavement after a collision with a jaywalking pedestrian in the middle of the block on Lincoln. She was cutting through two SUVs, I start yelling "Shit, Shit, Shit" & trying to brake... hit her and off my bike on my head & right side I landed. I have a good bruise on my elbow & knee. Made sure she was okay... asked her to look-please, then back on the bike. Ugh! I am ready for a new day.
I normally see people doing crap like this... A little disappointed I couldn't avoid it/her, especially since I wasn't going that fast in the wind.

Pedestrians must have a thing for cyclists today.  I just ran into a pedestrian running across the sidewalk after the light changed.  It turned green, I pushed off to start pedaling and then boom.  Fortunately, I was able to recover and wasn't going fast enough to hurt anyone.

Glad you're mostly okay.

Was so nice riding in daylight.  C'mon Spring!!!

I had the usual close encounters with the peds milling in the bike lane on Dearborn. Otherwise, my day was blissfully collision free.

Glad to hear you're okay, Jenn.

I did think it was a bit colder than it actually is, though. By the time I got to work I was way too hot, and that was with riding half-way with my jacket unzipped to try to get some extra ventilation. If the wind's from the N during the evening commute, I'm sure I won't have the same problem.

I had to pull over and put my goggles on today. When I left home I thought that I was ok without them but brought them just in case. About a mile into the ride my eyes were slowly freezing shut a little more every time I blinked.

Today was def. the coldest commute I've ever had.

The ice photo--image 4067--very cool.  And everything looks so beautiful in the sunshine.

'Twas beautiful. Thanks, Lisa. This was the first day in years that I used my ski goggles.
