Stolen bikes among other goods on display Tues 11/20, 9 Am to 7 PM

http://oururbantimes.com/police-news/massive-stollen-goods-stash-ga...

Saw this on the news including a brief shot of a bunch of bikes.  No time to do anything but put it out there at the moment. Hopefully someone is willing to go and do a smart phone search to see if any of these bikes can be matched with owners.

Excellent journalism:  Print a press release verbatim, misspell the headline.

Police were extremely nice at the station. Bikes are mostly hybrid, upright or mountain bikes. Newer models. One nice newer model Specialized road bike, one older road bike. About 18-24 bikes left as of 9:15 this morning.

I got over there about 9:30 and took pictures of the bikes in inventory. They are compiling a list by make, model color, serial number and will email to me later today(?).

Can't hurt to say this too many times:  Kevin and Howard, thanks for all you do.

+1

Thanks for the post!  I'll be heading over there after work.  My wife's trek hybrid was stolen from our basement in the neighborhood and it sounds like there may be a good chance it's being held by the police.

Too bad Rahm is shutting down the Wood St. station...

It makes me sad to think of all the bike theft victims wasting time doing the same when there's such a slim chance your bike may be there....you could also wait for the info from Kevin C if you like.  Wish they would come up with a more public-friendly process (this is supposed to be the "information age" after all.)

I agree, it may be a total waste of time.  At least the Wood St. police station is only 1/2 block out of my way on the commute home.

Alrighty. I just got permission from the 13th District to post these photos to the chainlink. I was asked to include a disclaimer that these photos can not be used to prove ownership. If something looks familiar, and you want to head over there yourself, you will need a receipt, police report, or other proof of ownership. These photos are for informational purposes only.
