Reflective gear is all well and good, but what riders really need are LIGHTS.  I am always amazed by the number of cyclists I see at night without the flashing white and red lights front and back (which I think are required by law: a reflector at least on the back, and a light on the front).  And dressed in black, of course, making people practically invisible; I've had countless near-misses with other cyclists due to lack of lights.  And if another cyclist cannot see you, neither can the driver of a car.

Lights are handy, but don't discount reflectors.  I've got white tape covering my front fork and red tape covering the seat stays and it really shines with just a little light on it.  And that's $3 walmart reflective tape I had left over after a few rallies.

Not discounting reflectors completely by any means, but remember this: reflectors only work if the car headed in your direction has its headlights on.  And some drivers spin around town without lights as well, and with no light to reflect, reflectors are just colorful tape. Pedestrians and other cyclists also don't have headlights to create reflections either.  Lights you can control yourself to ensure that you are visible to everyone, whether they're lit up or not.

Looks great!

The safety vests and iron-on reflective tape I ordered for the workshops arrived today!

Will Jane be presenting one time, multiple times, or continuously?  You mentioned it was a "come any time" sort of event, but it would be useful to know roughly how she will be handling her part.  Thanks!

Sounds great; looking forward to it.  Thanks!

There's not a lecture schedule to adhere to. Jane will give a presentation when the first group of people arrive and then as many other presentations that are needed to reach everyone who comes to the workshop. And she's got all sorts of useful biking information (riding year-round, riding with children, women-specific advice, etc.) so feel free to talk with her between the visibility presentation(s).
