Stolen Bike Registry - do this when your bike gets stolen

"With all the stolen bike posts lately (and no one thinking "I wonder if there's something under Useful Links for this."), I think it's well past time to make a sticky about the Stolen Bike Registry"

My bike was stolen October 28, 2011 and Alex over at Roscoe Village Bikes told me about this place and recommended posting something here as well. Here are the details:

 

It was a 2009 Bianchi Valle (52cm, Meteor Grey), older Kryptonite U-Lock & cable, locked to a secure signpost in front of 2583 W Montrose. It happened sometime between 5-8pm on Friday 10/28. There was not a trace of the bike or lock or anything.

 

I only have this picture from the Bianchi site. It had fenders, Vittoria Randonneur tires, and a generator hub on the front wheel for the light. It also had a cheap back-rack, an American flag bell on the right and mirror on the left of the handlebars. It was well-maintained (and well-loved). Serial number: H9GR03166DI0185732D. It also had a Turin Bicycle (Evanston) sticker.

 

This bike was my primary mode of transportation. Please give a holler if you see it anywhere. Thanks.

My 4 week old Nashbar 29er Single Speed was stolen outside Northwestern Hospital on Nov 10, 2011 between 5 and 11PM. The cable lock was cut (clean cut) and left at the scene. It had upgraded Easton handle bars, Hayes Nine hydraulic disc brakes, Shimano SPD pedals, Bontrager Race Lite stem, and Peaty gray and red clamp on grips.

 

The bike is 21", gold and has a taped on label that reads "fumanchu" on the downtube.

The attached picture was from when I first built it and the pedals and fumanchu logo were added shortly after.

 

If you see it, please contact me. I've reported it on the stolen bike registry as well as with the CPD.

Another bike was stolen from my locked garage AGAIN...it's only been 2 months since the last time. I guess I have to start locking it to something in the garage. Again, they left other bikes alone, so probably not a scrapper..

 

It was a multi-speed Schwinn World Sport, black, Brooks saddle, black front wire basket, straight handlebars, black fenders.

 

Filed a police report & posted on the registry, heading to swappy this weekend.

 

p.s. why do they always steal my (useless) lock?

My old rusty rustybrown and off white bike was stolen from outside Lill Street Art Center (Ravenswood and Montrose) Friday, January 27, between 8:30 and 10:30 pm.

It's rusty and probably not really safe to ride, but it's how I've been getting around.  And I've reported the theft to the police, posted on Craigslist and the Stolen Bike registry.  This is the fourth and a third bike (the third is a wheel stolen of another bike) that's been stolen from me, for once I'd like to go out and buy a new bike because I wore the old one out or came into enough money for the bike of my dreams.

Thanks. but a little late in this case (the others were stolen over a couple decades time and in different locations and circumstances.)

my bike got stolen today right outside of northwestern memorial hospital. I have cried 3 times so far. I can't imagine someone touching my bike and not taking care of it. I know it isn't human, but I feel violated and PISSED!
