The Chainlink

I am coming up on 4,000 miles for the season, I should hit it by the end of the the first week of November...Weather willing, (no snow or ice) perhaps WE will find even greater achievement...What have you guys hit, or plan to hit?...Do you even care?...I am not into racking up miles, I just love to ride...

I have hit 10k for the second season in a row.. still slow and fat, but at least I can go far
I don't keep a running total for the year, so I don't know how much I've ridden.  I remember a year that I did though, and found myself on the road bike, riding in sloppy snow, on new year's eve, trying to make it to 5000.  I made it, but have given up that sort of goal.

Awesome Bernard!  I don't have anything on my bike to measure miles....my goal is to bike winter for the first time...does that count?  :)

I don't have a computer on my everyday bike, but I think I finish the year at around 4500 miles. It seems normal for me (even as, not too many years ago, I was only doing half that in MI) but I don't know how anyone who does 10k/year can be fat unless they're retired, maybe.
I'm trying to break the winter barrier, too.  I used to bike down to the mid-30's while in college, which is as cold as it got back east.  This year I want to go to zero :)

I should hit 4K next week as well - aiming for 4750 - 5000 by the end of the year.
I would bike all winter, but ICE scares the heck out of me...I asked my bike guy about studded tires...He gave me THE LOOK and told me about a guy 10 years younger than me who trashed his hip wiping out on ice. Hey, I will try to go as long as possible into winter, if the sun is out, and it is high 30's, it can be a very pleasant ride.

I rode my 700x23's all last winter without a problem but I did make sure the roads were fairly well plowed, dry and snow was not not in the forecast before I headed out however. I think the coldest I rode last year was -5 (air temp).
I hit 6200 last year when I was aiming for 5200 (100/wk).  I was hoping for 7000 this year, but a few weeks of illness and injury earlier this year will keep me closer to 6000 I think.
Gopher Biker- i also go 700x38 slickish. coldest ever was -8.  dangerously cold 8 miles that were kinda stupid to do. if the roads are reasonably plowed i go out.  really looking forward to this winter!  Unicycles rock in the snow. =D

My goal at the beginning of the year was to do 12 centuries this year. I completed my 12th century last month on the Potosi Brewery Great River Road Bike Tour. I just reached 6000 this week. Lots of riding left in the year. I want to see how close I can get to 7000 this year.

I'm trying to salvage the cycling season after a two-month plus fall layoff.  Hopefully, next Wednesday, my second season will begin and run up to New Year's eve.  I hope the physician who did the surgery down below will give me a green light to get back on the bike.  I'd like to do Milwaukee's Santa Rampage this year.
