The Chainlink

I rode in to work today, and now I'm thinking I might have to bus it half the way home.  I live about 7 miles from my office which really isn't bad, but man it is hot out there.  I was just wondering if I'm the only one considering wussing out.

Too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, too windy, too still, really?  Since when did human beings require 75 degree temperature all the time.  Our bodies are designed to adapt and besides WATER there is also great CLOTHING available.  This link contains several people's heat stroke symptoms and none of them got it from only 30-40 minutes of activity.   http://www.medicinenet.com/heat_stroke/discussion-410.htm  If you don't want to ride, it's your choice, but the great outdoors is a poor excuse.
I apparently had forgotten about last summer, when I routinely rode 50-80 miles in hot hot heat without a second thought as I was training for a century. Considering that, plus gentle peer pressure from Chainlinkers, made me woman up and start my commute again. Thanks, everyone :)

I usually ride 13 miles round trip to Evanston and back, but I live half a block from the UP North Metra. This week I've taken the train every day. When I leave the house at 5:50 a.m., I think, eh, this doesn't seem so bad, but by the time I come home I'm thankful to be getting on the train. Aside from the heat, the air quality also seems really bad, as my throat feels kind of tight after walking outside for a couple minutes.
As a heavy ex smoker ( 3 packs a day) I was amazed that I felt no consequence during the "ozone action days". I actually felt very strong during my morning rides....The healing properties of the human body is truly amazing.

The other day I was on Irvingpark heading west and the sun was brutal. I know it could have been worse and I was actually concerned I would drink too much water. At one point I noticed that my arm was dry and had goose bumps even though it was very hot out...I got worried. One thing I noticed too...when stopped at a light and standing up off the seat, it gets hot fast.

But to answer the question...Yes, I take the heat advisories serious.

I was just out riding around for 5 hours with a buyer doing a property tour and am happy I am back home in AC.

May head to the pool soon!

I was so hot at around 3:00. I've been out all day. It's cooling off now, finally.

Um. I saw a woman wearing tights yesterday. It wasn't like it was a woman wearing panty hose to work because they're required. Her dress was a sundress and the tights were boldly patterned in black and white. They were not particularly thin, either. Ew.

It was great! Just got home, now I'm dripping in sweat. Ppl can't drive for crap

had a great 15 mile commute home, consumed 4 bottles of water/Nuun and beat the rain in Skokie too.

Left the loop at about 4:30.  The ride along the lakefront was pleasant.  A breeze out of the northwest.  Of course, I was the one going about 6 mph!

The rain shower on the way home felt awesome!!!!

rain????  I heard thunder.  I'm indoors typing away.

Yup right around 6:15.  I got a nice soaking for about the last 5 minutes of my ride home!
