anyone tried the knog locks?

now that i can get back on my bike, my obsession with the new knog locks has kicked back in. does anyone have an experience with them?

they're really cute. but not so cute i need one if it means my bike is going to be taken (again - i had an unfortunate experience with a kryptonite cable lock.

are they safe/strong enough for daily errand run - being locked up for a few minutes while i'm in a store?
are they strong enough to be locked up overnight behind my apartment (where my last bike was stolen)?

i need to git over to the registration site, so i can make sure i have a little more recourse if this one is taken, but i'd like to just not have it stolen at all if possible.

I saw them last night and while I thought they were cute, I couldn't imagine using them as serious security for my bike.

They were also kind of an awkward length--not long enough to go around both the front and back wheel, or to go around a bigger pole.

I could imagine using one as a supplement to a U-Lock, but I would be worried to use one on it's own.

I've been using the small Party Frank model for this same purpose for several months. It matches my bike.

As with any cable, these are a deterrent more than high security, but as we all know -- nothing is foolproof.

Cable lock = Stolen bicycle

Melanie, I agree. 35% of the bikes that show up on the Chicago Stolen Bike Registry were secured with only a cable lock. They should never be used as the sole locking method.

i definitely wouldn't use it as a primary lock - just a supplementary lock for errand days. as noted, i've already been part of that 30% statistic. sounds like maybe i'll pass.
