My bike was snowed under a drift in Yosemite national park for three months 2008-2009.

A drift is one thing -but plowed snow pushed up against and over a bike is the worst-case scenario IMHO.  Tacoed wheels and bent frames are the likely result.  I wonder how many nice (and not-so-nice) bikes have met their ends crushed by snowplows and/or packed snow mushed up against them.

Ouch!  That's painful to look at.  I hate to imagine how bad that could look once the snow melts.

 

In the last few days, I've noticed a few bike racks in various locations that were pulled out of the pavement and/or bent up by plows pushing this kin of snow load against them.
