Stopped by the Winter Biker to Work day booth on my way in to work. Saw a few familiar faces.
Thanks for the hot coffee!
My office is a bit farther north from the Winter Bike to Work Day booth. I would've ridden south for the free coffee if it wasn't for my brakes locking/freezing up as I made it to my office. I will have to fix that since now my brake system seems to be attached to my tire. I have no idea why. Oh well. I still rode :)
Today is pretty chilly, but it made for a nice ride.

Since i've acclimated to the cold 20F is the new 30F.
Consider it an additional workout

This week's report
Rode everyday but my commute is only 3 miles. 10 on tues/thurs
On Monday I ate it pretty hard turning into someones driveway and bent my brake levers but overall this week it seems like it has been harder on the people walking on the sidewalk than for me on the road.
they have been doing a great job salting in Evanston

Thanks iggi- I will keep that in mind, although I am a bit petrified to try to go completely without brakes.
At lunch I ended up loosening the rear brake cable and pulling the pads outward, so no rear brakes for me and no tire seizing now. The front brakes should be all I need to get the 8 miles home. I didn't see any funk, but I noticed my brake cable wasn't moving when I pulled the brake lever and the lever was super tight, like it was frozen, too. Ugh. I will ride...I will ride... I WILL ride...I must keep saying this to myself before I lose my motivation between the mechanical problems and cold weather.
