I wanted to give this thread a cryptic and cutesy title, but I have a feeling this one's going to be bouncing around every forum and list more than once over the next few weeks, so I thought better . . .
Without further adieu:

Does she have a sister?
As always it is more entertaining to read the comments than it is to read the actual news article.
This one was my favorite bike-hater. Whatever would drive someone to dislike bicyclists so much? I wonder...
I hope she had any licensing and permits that are required in her town to
ride a bike. I also hope she was wearing a helmet. Not following any one
of these is a civil offense and should be punished with a monetary
forfeiture. Also, I can't help but think her unborn baby was not wearing a
helmet. That is irresponsible parenting. I hope CPS begins investigating
the behavior of this scofflaw before more innocents are put in danger by
her reckless behavior. Someone must step in and protect us all. I hope
the legislature will draft legislation to regulate the riding of bikes by
pregnant women.
Bike Hater?
i don't know... did you see a flashing red icon that read "SATIRE" somewhere around that post? Maybe a regulation-hater... Good stuff, though.

The smugness bar has been raised.
Actually, I feel there's something a little "off" about this story.
Having a hard time putting my finger on it though . . .
Something about the woman's drive to make sure she rode her bike? Not quite sure what kind of a place that's coming from-- almost a bit of an obsessive vibe maybe.
Or is it the unquestionable pretense that one has to travel somewhere to deliver a baby?
Where did people travel to to deliver their babies before hospitals? Maybe they were carried in a ceremonial procession around town and then dropped back home for the final thrust?
Or maybe it's the relatively poor usability of this little anecdote as an advocacy device-- it's just a hair too odd, considering there may have been options to get to where she needed to via human power without being the one to ride the bicycle, with just a little bit of foresight-- I don't think the concern about being unable to manage the bike safely in the throes of a contraction is completely invalid.
