2010.11.26 "Black Friday" ride

Thread for discussion of this Friday's upcoming "Black Friday" Critical Mass ride.

Typically being the Friday after Thanksgiving, this ride is often observed by promoting freedom from consumerism.

A classic is Payton Chung's "Shopping Mass" from 2000.

And Steven Lane's "Local Shopping Tour" from 2007.

I just spoke with Maria Scileppi: http://livingbrushstroke.tumblr.com/. She's going to wait till January. It sounds like she might have up to 60 logging devices, which means 60 riders are like different colored brushes tracing the line of the ride.

I'll be out of town this Friday, but I plan to work with Maria in January to help get the logging devices distributed and collected. Considering January is a Polka Mass, beer and punk polka should be incentive enough to ensure she gets all her logging devices back.

Wish I would be with you all Friday riding up and down Michigan Avenue chanting "While you are shopping, bombs are dropping!" Give 'em an extra dose of Hell for me ;^)
