I discussed this with, I believe, the same respected bike advocate and I think it is a good idea and am planning to try and attend a meeting. I think a large group would be a good idea.

I'm also interested, although if I recall correctly the summer meeting is in the evening, which might make it difficult.

I think I remember Ben Gomberg saying that they were looking into doing a bike theft sting, and they are pretty uninterested in building more bike stations like the one at Millennium Park. For whatever that's worth.

I have no experience with the MBAC. Do we need to develop an Action Plan or do they? It seems to me there is "help" available for the recovery of stolen bikes, but absent the continued efforts of the task force to perform the legwork, no one else is going to show up at the Swap-O-Rama to check bikes against the Registry. It's pretty easy to get a consensus in opposition to bike theft, but what types of affirmative steps can we reasonably expect from MBAC or the Chicago Police?

i think the action plan is necessary, but maybe a second step once we find out what actions are taking place by the city, etc. i say we do our recon, and come in numbers to show that we are serious, not just upset folks that had a bike stolen, and show them this is a global concern to the bike culture, one that Chicago is promoting.
