Taking the L.S.D. path is alot of fun when...

Just curious, I mostly have a rough time on the L.S.D. path. When the wind is pressing hard against my back and fellow path users are few and far between, I go flying so fast I almost feel like I am doing something illegal. Guilt tastes so delicious!

I agree. Tonight, two walkers decided to hang a quick left without looking, right at the curve at fullerton. I am amazed at how many "near misses" I have.

True as long as you don't encounter those damned 4-person pedal cars. Hmm....looks like a car, go drive it on that road over there. *points to Lake Shore Drive*

Flew south on the 14th, turned around at the South Shore Cultural Center and ground my way back to downtown which is where I got off the lakefront.

Taking the LSD path is a lot of fun when...there's no wind!

Wow, that is some nice mental imagery. Too bad the path is not always serene, instead it has its hazardous joggers not looking as they turn around, obese car driving families walking the whole width with their ice coolers, large striding rollerbladers, overly testosterone fueled lycra roadhogs, and the list goes on...

Better get used to that. LFP is a Multi Use Path after all. All these other users have just as much a right as you do, providing they are not endangering you.

Some summer afternoons I actually seek out LFP for my ride home. I ride slowly and enjoy the sights of people being out and about.

And/or we need an additional path dedicated to 'through' bike traffic.
Too bad there's an 8-lane multihighway off limits to all but motorized traffic taking up all that room.

What I hate is a 'bad trip' on LSD and that is usually when a-holes fly right by you doing 25+ on a crowded path with no Bells and tight form fitting spandex usually revealing some sort of genetic defect that they were never made aware of ...

Already used to the fact that it is not a good commuter route. Needing to get to work on time and being more aware of the wind and cast of clowns. Only then after work it is time to trip and cruise, that's when it is fun to watch the circus on the L.S.D. path.

Chicago is the only city where you can have wind blowing from every direction at once. Also, it seems that no matter which direction I travel I have a headwind going, thinking that I'll have a tail wind the other way, but then I turn around and have another headwind

This is one of the reasons I love this site. This happens to me a lot and I think to myself "am I crazy or should this not be happening?" Nice to know I'm not alone

another funfilled windy morning on the path... watch out for the waves at Diversey going south was just a cross wind but coming back was brutal, having to pedal to go downhill makes it interesting

Fun was had yesterday with me on a single speed tt bike, competing against racing lycra man. Testosterone got the best of me when this lycra dude passes me on my left at a crowded stretch without saying anything. So I pass him up, being rude and all just like him. He returns the favor and I again. We end up catching up to two other speed racers and the fight is on! I had to quit in order to keep from getting into an accident on the packed lakefront. I have come to realize these people are either very skilled at close quarters racing or they are complete morons without any regard for people around them.
