Please add to this discussion with your ride proposal for May or cast your vote for someone else's proposal.  I suggest we close the voting for May in one week, say by next Friday at midnight so we can start listing the ride in our promotional efforts.  Once we close the vote on May we can start a discussion/vote for June.  I suggest that everyone is free to change their posted votes up until the vote closes.

If anybody disagrees with this voting procedure or has suggestions for improving it, please speak up.

Rogers Park!
Rogers Park!
I'd love to do Rodgers Park in May

Then in June can I suggest the Logan Square/Humboldt Park Blvd ride again (when the weather is better and we can get a full turnout)?

If we plan June now, we can promote a series of rides in posters and literature about the event...
I want to do a Palmer Square / Logan Square Kidical Mass every month. Which doesn't mean that other Kids masses can't go on elsewhere; in fact, we could do Palmer rides on different Saturdays so as not to compete. My thinking is that to build momentum for a ride it should start at a predictable location at a predictable time (and also many of us don't drive so out-of-neighborhood rides don't make sense) -- so I'm suggesting an April 10th ride starting at Palmer Square at 9am for partying, 9:30 am riding.
I'd like to have June in Albany Park . See with this each neighborhood would be depraved of having a regular ride every month like the Wicker Park Critical Mass, North~Side Critical Mass. Point is: I do think that each and every neighborhood should have one on a regular basis. Maybe later on when they pick up in numbers why not combine two neighborhoods etc...
I agree with Karen. Say hypnotically speaking say Albany Park is the 1St. Saturday of each month , Rogers Park is 2nd. Saturday , Palmer Square / Logan Square is 3rd. Saturday. Or we just keep this as a hub For the Kidical Mass ride & sub. post each and every neighborhood ride.
For the May ride, what do people think of meeting in the SW corner of Warren Park and then riding north east through the park and up into the Rogers park neighborhood as far as the kids would like, perhaps stopping for a short rest / play time in one of the smaller parks such as Paschen or Pottawattomie. Warren is just outside the border of Rogers Park, but it looks like a great meeting point with lots of play space (and parking...).

It would be great if someone intimately familiar with the area could suggest a best route, although if not, there is plenty of time for us to schedule a ride to scope routes.
It seems we have 2 suggestions thus far for the Rogers Park ride. One is to meet over at the lake and ride the lakefront path. We might garner attention here from families who already bering their kids to ride here. Of course, we also miss the opportunity to ride through a neighborhood and have folks see us in that manner.

And now Todd's suggestion of meeting at Warren Park. I agree that having parking right there is great. It would be easy to ride into the neighborhood across Pratt ...easy to cross Pratt at one or two points from the park. And then we would have a choice of riding through west Rogers Park or east Rogers Park. If we head toward west RP we could have a stop at Indian Boundary Park.....really can't be beat for kid awesomeness.

I would be open to scoping out a ride with somebody at some point prior to the May ride. I do live in RP (north of Touhy on Ridge) and can definitely help with route planning.

Hey Karen and Logan-Square-ers-
I'm on board for an April 10th Kidical mass from Palmer Square (hopefully recurring monthly or bi-monthly thru the spring/summer. Happy to join, ride, promote and recruit families.

Liz D. Andrew and other RP-ers-
I'm also interested in the Rogers Park ride too. Warren Park & Indian Boundary Park are two great parks for a start and terminus to the ride-or the bike path lakefront parks are equally great.

Is there a firm date/time for that RP ride so we can promote both Kidicals at the same time...? And any other neighborhood rides as they firm up...Albany Park? Where else?
I think Lincoln Square was put out there as an April possibility too.
For May, someone suggested Sunday May 16 I think it was. (It is on the otehr discussion in kidical mass).

Ok, it looks like Rogers Park wins the May vote!

But we need to pick the ride start point so that we can start doing publicity for it.

I think the suggestions were the Loyola park field house at Greenleaf & Sheridan or Warren park at Western just north of Devon. Please vote.
Anyone have strong feelings to pick a starting point?

I ask because I'm making posters to promote Kidical Mass in both the Logan Square & Rogers Park rides (since these two seem to have enough commitment to be firmly "on" for the next 2 months).

It will be necessary to add the start location to the posters that are getting made this week...

To local RP-er: What do you prefer? Start at Warren Park or Loyola Park Field House?
Votes? Comments? Can it be decided by this Thursday am? ...so it can get on our posters that will be printed later this week?
