The Chainlink

"We love travel, we love simple green living, we love challenges, and
we love being together as a family. We have put all this love together
in a bicycle trip to Alaska," the family's website, Pedouins.org,
states. "On the trip to Alaska we want to share our family's journey
with others to demonstrate how to live a dream despite the economic,
social or educational climate."

my heros

Wow, I think that this is very cool! Wish my parents would have been this adventurous. Go Pedouins!
Here is what the trailer looked like before the fire.

Those are lucky kids.

Very cool. Reminds me of a similar journal I read on Crazy Guy: http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=RrzKj&doc_id=1495&v=1lS

It's always interesting to see how parents and kids deal with being out on the road for a long time.
That is really amazing. Those folks are very cool.
i met this family at the Hilly Hundred in Indiana. They even had their dog with them!

What kind of people haul a little dog in a little box on the back of a bike just to do it. I hope one of them is locked in a box and shipped ups to the Mother in Law. lol

Agreed. Why would you think of that idea, let alone think it's a good idea? I too want to haul around an extra 20+ pounds. I hope those bungee cords were extra strength.

I think Julie Hochstadter's photo is of a different group. The Pedouins are NOT traveling with a dog.

rik,

The photo she posted is of a family she met on the Hilly Hundred. It still doesn't make any sense to be going on the Hilly Hundred with your dog in a pet carrier though.

Plenty of dogs I've met would prefer to ride along in a box with their people if the alternative is to stay home without them. At least that is the impression I get from their behavior when the humans leave and return and how well they adapt to traveling.

I'd say that which is less cruel - riding in the box or being left at home - totally depends on the dog in question.
