There's been a thread about each of our real jobs, but forget the real jobs... what about your dream job?? If salary, education, training, etc. weren't a consideration, what would you do?

I have two:
1) I would study languages all the time, it would be my full time job. Not to be a translator, but rather to understand how languages work and grow and change.
2) I would be a professional cyclist! Duh. :)

Aside from the true dream jobs - astronaut (would take a trip off the planet no matter what the consequences -alien abduction or earth voyage - if given the opportunity) and nba player (no matter the role, bench rider or starter)

my dream job would have to be running a small brewery/bike co-op... they can easily run together with the large spaces needed for brew houses, and the two cultures fit perfectly, all bike and beer festivals have the same friendly atmosphere - partially pay the bike repair guys/gals w/ beer... promote cycling and good beer

think new belgium but way smaller and with on-site, community run, bike repair - i guess i picture lakefront brewery (milwaukee) merged with west town or working bikes - we'd repair, sell, and teach... no new bikes sold here... we'd have the best parties, festivals, and mass rides... we'd be a meeting place for mass rides or meeting places for the end of mass rides... we'd love you and you'd love us

any want to join me?

Route tester for the Adventure Cycling Association. Paid to go bike touring? Yes, please!
1)I would run a custom bicycle building shop, making and tinkering on all sorts of bicycle contraptions. Building tall bikes, small bikes custom made frames and components.

2)Part time yogi.
once had a mentor who would try to influence my future through engaging conversation with creative and influential individuals as well as involvement in some pretty interesting activities with global implications. too often trying to shape me into their version of what they thought i should one day become (religion, politics, education, etc). to their dismay my only aspiration at the time was to become a pro skateboarder, something i would eventually achieve. one good thing that came out of all that was that i've taken the best that they had to offer and applied it to helping others attain their own goals (as opposed to whatever i have in mind for them) offering my assistance over the hurdles as i have been helped by others from time to time. so far i have taken one guy from sharpening blades in a knife store to a $65k job at a major corporation, another young lady from barrista to managing a flagship retail operation in town, and a couple others on their way to some lofty goals of their very own. also helped to open up educational programs at a few high schools in the states and abroad putting artists at the helm. it's a little hobby i like to call the heart'spath. not too shabby for a high school dropout, eh? if my head wasn't always in the clouds working in virtual computing, surfing the lake, or concocting skin lotions of my own, i wouldn't mind someday finding more ways to assist others in realizing their full potential... or maybe it's all just a dream.
DAMM ! I hate to omit to this, But I do remember what place your talking about. If not mistaken it was on east side of Harlem. I don't think it's their anymore. My wife's foot doctor owns that empty lot.
Bad memories.
I don't think I'll be sleeping tonight!

Shouldn't that be "Monkey Fluffer?"

Bad memories of the horrible Animal World at Waukeegan and Harlem where I grew up.
They thought it would be a draw to have various neglected animals in pens/cages in the front (e.g. Llamas and such)-- I don't think there's a kid who grew up in Niles in the 70s that isn't plagued by a permanent mental image of the perpetually masturbating monkey greeting you when you walked in.
