The Chainlink

No hipsters.

I'm just looking to bike the metropolis with
a group of people who are sane, creative, love
single speeds or fixies, and just love to bike.

Living in the South Suburbs sucks....great roads and
inclines,but no real bikers.

Funny, based on your first few posts I thought the point was you where an elitist prick...

Please tell me what exactly is a 'real' cyclist.

I am anxious to hear this.

Really. Lets focus on the point or main idea of this thread.......Would you like group up with other riders to ride through the metro?

Yeah, we have, debating your need to single out and continue to define a group of people. You are the one that started it and has perpetuated it, if you don't like it, then get off the internet. second off, stop comparing the bikers you don't like to a word for a group of people, no matter how hard you try to justify it, it doesn't work. your ignorance is plentiful. and your opinions might not be the best suited on a thread asking people to ride with you...
funny, it doesn't seem one person has agreed to go on a ride with you, have they? I wonder why.... stay in the burbs, cycle, then die.
have a nice day.
That's funny! You beat me to my thought. When someone uses the word hipster I envision an unshaven guy in tight black jeans.

Blue baron,
Another day, anther forum, and I might have called you a troll.
However, on this dreary day you are providing me with much needed humor. Please, don't stop posting!
Frank
PS. Anyone responded to your request yet?
I have a prick, but I am not a prick.

No, you're a prick.

You came on here and, in a post asking people to come ride with you, insulted a solid 3rd of the people who ride bikes in our fair city.

We won't even get into the level of personal offense the concept of 'real' riders and your general elitist moron attitude have ginned up in myself.

People like you are why there are factions in the cycling world; why do you need to only meet and ride with fixed gear or SS riders? Why not just look for people to ride bikes with putting aside the concept of shoving people into categories...

I pretty much stopped riding my fixed gear bicycle when I started living in the suburbs. I use it for short trips and when going into urban areas, but that's about it. The suburbs are too spread out and not stop-and-go enough for fixed riding. I ride a touring frame bike here, mostly.

...And I think I might be a hipster, but I also think I'm really just mostly Sam. How can I find out? Is there a blood test I can take or anything? I was in a grindcore band 6 years ago (seriously), does that mean anything? Also, I wonder if I'm a real rider, or, for that matter, I wonder if I'm real at all. Are my legs really attached to my torso and feet, turning my crank over and over, counter clockwise unless I'm going backwards on the fixie, or is this just one of Michel Foucault's theoretical worlds?

I like riding bikes with anyone who'll ride with me.
LOL..nice

Actually, I think the burbs are great for fixies...The roads are long and there are less lights, so as a rider, you can really crank and not really have to worry about unexpected incoming traffic or people impeding your trek. ...and you can skid like crazy because the roads are empty.

In the city, my eyes are always popping out of my head like Don Knotts because I have to stop or slow
down for some pedestrian or driver who give 2 fucks about life and want to take you with them......

Riding a fixie in the city is like riding a stick shift....It can be frustrating as fuck at times, but it does increase and invigorate your sense of awareness.......

why, dug, you can be so notorious at times.

: )

Come on, snap out of it, dougie .....I am a good guy. I didnt mean to ruffle your feathers.

Everything was all in good fun and the spirit of human nature.....

I'll buy you a beer one day.....come on, truce?

hehe, I read the first page of this thread then replied without reading the other ones and successfully covered almost all the topics from the pages leading up to here. That was entertaining. I guess I'm not going to be riding with you, though, because "the metropolis" is about the only place I really like riding my fixie. And well, obviously, I'm probably not cool enough because its been 6 years since I was in that band, and we sucked anyways.
