That is one of the craziest things I have ever seen.
this takes the fun and adventure out of learning to ride a bike :/
Looks super heavy (not that you'd notice on the average kids bike).
i think its a great idea, but I personally feel we should just Let em learn the "hard way." i learned at three when my dad pushed me DOWN the driveway till i made it down the street. I now tell that story with pride :-)
That thing is awesome.

But what might be more awesome is the patent that they hold on the technology. Not because the patent, in and of itself, is so awesome, but mostly because of what you will find on page 8 of the patent. Sooooo good.

Haha, Fig 8 and 9 are hilarious. (And yes, we are laughing at patent drawings.)

This is a very cool gadget. I'm all for anything that discourages training wheels because I believe they slow down learning to ride a two-wheeler, but I have a lower tech suggestion. Our kids had more trouble than most finding their balance and quit in frustration several times before we found success. We found that a few days playing on a stand-up two wheeled scooter did the trick. Even a kid from a clumsy family like ours can build confidence at his/her own pace. When you see a kid on a scooter put the push foot on the deck and coast at a pretty good rate with a smile, you know it's time to try the bike.
Their video seemed to make the thing look pretty sketchy. They seemed desperate not to let the bike hit the ground-- bad imagery for business??

This one doesn't look any better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vGM96FQ51o&feature=related

& page 8 was hysterical.
The girl in the Gyrowheel by Gyrobike interbike 2009 video is a friend of mine from college. Talk about serendipity!
As a bike tech, I would like to cry right about now. lol
Those illustrations are hilarious. I don't think I've ever seen emotion displayed in a patent drawing.
