Apple picking bike ride

Anyone know of a good place to go apple picking around Chicago?

Oo mee me!! I'm planning on riding up to Heinz Orchard in Green Oaks on Saturday, Oct 3! It's about 34 miles each way. They're open from like 9:30-5:30, and starting Oct 2nd, they'll have more varieties.

I'll expand the question to include cider mills - y'know, the whole cider-and-donuts thing. I like going to cider mills in the fall, even if they do tend to be corny.

I rode past there this afternoon; you may want to call the day before you go, Atkinson is all torn up. If you take St. Marys rd, Pearson to Crest is an option.

I think I'm organizing a trip for this. I'll be posting it as an event very soon. We can do Metra on the way back if we have too many apples, ha.
But ya, Saturday Oct 3rd. Probably leaving in the morning, I'll figure out a route.

Applehaus in Long Grove--apple fest next weekend. I was thinking of taking a trip up to Didier Farms--about 26 miles each way, donuts made with apple cider!

Hey Everyone--Evanston Bike Club is leading a ride to Apple Fest in Long Grove this weekend--leaves aty9am from 1028 W Central in Evanston On Sunday October 4th. I'm planning on going---donuts and cider, yay!
