How are you celebrating Earth Day? Post your rides *here*!

"...one of the best things you can do for the environment is to bike more, to walk more, or to take public transportation. This Earth Day, give your car a rest."

I think we can all take some comfort in the fact that we are doing it right! :-) Every day is Earth Day.

Oak Park-to-Salt-Creek-Trail-to-Prairie-Path 28-mile loop. Fantastic on the way out (17 meandering miles), stiff headwind on the eastward trip back home (11 arrow-straight miles).

Meandering up-wind ride from Palatine to Northbrook Velodrome, onward to the Skokie Valley path and over to the lake at Lake Bluff. Tailwinds home. 101km... That wind off the lake was chilly!

How 'bout my 420 ride instead -- even though I was (sadly) not under the influence? Close enough??

Performed my 10th Chicago Perimeter Ride of the year. Rode clockwise, heading south into the wind along the LFT (49 degrees) to start. Warmed up to a spring-like 56 out along the western city limits. By the time I returned to the lakefront (Rogers Park) to grind home (Hyde Park), it was chilling again (but I then I like it like that.) The pure, crisp blue lake and sky in the early evening light was spectacular.
