I haven't touch base on this post in a long time.  Forgive my absence.  The last post was in April of 2020 when the 100,000 mile mark was reached.  As of this post the total is 114,211.  The plan now is to continue into 2025 until 115,000 is reached and retire from 2 wheel biking (at 75 the adventures of the Chicago Lakefront Trail are getting a little too hairy for me). This project began in April of 1976 and will culminate in a half century of biking (annual average mileage being 2,300).  The…See More

IT IS ACCOMPLISHED!!!!

Today, April 6, 2020 Jon Gottlieb passed the 100,000 miles mark in career cycling.  The last 44 miles were on an improvised street route since the Lake Front Trail was closed by police order during the current biological insanity.  Nearly empty streets. Probably the only good thing to come out of "shelter in place".The event took place just 8 days shy of the 44th anniversary of the first bike ride along the Chicago Lake Front.  Boy, have things changed since then.According to the Active…See More

"No, but I've probably got about 40-50k since I moved to Chicago in 2008 so if I give myself 43 years at that rate I'll be doing pretty well! :)"
