We’ve moved.

Thanks for stopping by. Our blog has moved. Our new website is up and running – with the blog picking up there where we left off here. Please click on!

NCC Hours – An apology.

Howdy, Last night I had the good fortune to stay a few minutes late and learn a good lesson. I’ll start with an apology. To the many folks who’ve come after 6pm but before 7pm since October, I am sorry that we were not here for you. We change our hours for a few reasons, […]

We are hilarious around here.

Ari had the idea. Eric did the design. Printed at VGKids on dark black AA tees. Available in M, L, XL in very limited qtys (we count them using one hand). $19+$4 S&H. Call 815.758.2403 or email tobie@nccdk.com to get yours.

Troll Rolls again

Here we have another very different build of the Troll. No matter what you put on it, it’s always going to be a monster. Enjoy it, Mr. Turner!

Nuvinci.

Russ and I took a little trip out to Utah last summer and had the pleasure of riding a fleet of incredible bikes we’ll never sell in Illinois. It was called “Dealer Camp” and a number of dealers were invited out to experience the new goods from a number of smaller upcoming brands. This was […]

What brings you to The Chainlink?
To join in and have access to this wonderful greater chicago cycling community! It would also be nice to connect to fellow McHenry residents.
About me:
Hey all,
Nothing much to say other then I really enjoy using my bicycle to get around. Honestly i prefer walking, but with living in modern society and all, the bicycle makes an amazingly enjoyable compromise.

(2022 update*)
I moved to the further outskirts of Chicagoland to continue my career as a bus driver. My town has a Metra station, multiple PACE stops, and a major bicycle trail. They are all a sham. If you use transit, walk, or bike then your life is literally at risk in this town. I made a major mistake in moving out here...

Hey there,

the group messaging system is down, so im reaching out to everyone individually. im just following up to see if you are still going on the camping trip to Illinois Beach State Park. we are actively securing sites and forming groups to make sure everyone has a spot.

if you are still coming, please hit me up or refer to the google docs spreadsheet (https://spreadsheets0.google.com/ccc?key=tRlefp7jwwSRd7jn2-sGutQ&hl=en) and make sure you have a site reserved or part of a group.

if you are not coming, please update your RSVP so we know accurate numbers of people going.

thanks,
iggi

I would not attempt to straighten your dropout without heating it glowing red. This may avoid breaking it off. It may break anyway. If the frame is brazed together, a cold wet rag will be needed to keep the brass cool.

Fox / Illinois River Tour

Just set up the start of a northern IL State park ride. Almost more of a Fox/Illinois river tour. All I have to do now is figure out if I want to ride the same route back or try and find more parks to visit on the way home. This will be a good prep run before I try the Great Lakes tour I've been planning. I wonder how much hassle it would be if I tried this on my beach cruiser :-) I just love that thing.…
