Unfortunately I could not make it as I wasn't watching the time properly in order to make it down. How was it, which map was fallowed, any problems along the way?
For my experience it was a very good ride. I was sort of in the middle of the mass at the beginning, then I pushed my way to the end of the front third for most of it, then I pushed up to the front for the final stretch. Props to Steven lane for a good route, and for mid mass modification of the route as well, he really kept things on track. I had misgivings about the route before the ride, but these quickly evaporated as the ride proceeded. The peace symbol standard Steven had on his bike was easy to spot from blocks away and provided a good rallying point.
The weather was about as nice as one could ask for. The end spot at North avenue beach was a great choice for a plan B end spot. All in all it was a very good ride, one of the better Critical Masses that I have attended.
great ride! my daughter came along this time and she had a blast!
memorable moments for me:
-seeing the people i usually see once a month
-the reaction my daughter had after seeing her first tall bike (and it was green- her fave color) she was all " woah! thats so cool!'
-on washington, bystander high fived the kid and said "all right lil momma" and we were in stitches..
-on humboldt she reported to me that she smelled a skunk. i said thats not _A_ skunk. and she was like yeah it smells like a lot of skunks... i laughed a little and we got out of the cloud that the riders ahead of us were making.
-towards the end of the ride she realized that smiling, waving and saying stuff like "happy friday!" actually feels really good.
the only negative for me was the somewhat mellow-harshing promenade past the cop convention. Thankfully it only took about a minute or so to roll by, and after that it was "game on" again.
