The Chainlink

Here is info for a hilly 200K this coming weekend.

Forwarded via Bob Booth from Greg Smith (RBA for SW Wisconsin brevets):

The Driftless Randonneurs will be hosting our inaugural brevet, a 200Kon October 11th. The route has been approved by RUSA (route number 1641) and is called "Via Viroqua". It's a lovely ride, typical of the area: hilly (just under 6K feet of climbing) and mostly on quiet roads through rolling farmland and Amish country. The fall colors that time of year should be very nice. As a matter of fact, October 11th is one week after the "official" fall colors festival. The control in Viroqua (mile 54.9) is at a food co-op that has a deli and I usually stop there for lunch when I ride that way. Soups, sandwiches, etc., or you can just do a quick in & out if you prefer. In addition to the co-op in Viroqua, there are controls at convenience stores in Mineral Point (37.4 miles), La Farge (83.4) and Rock Bridge (102.3) so you can take a break and refuel.

The route can be found at: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4637577

The ride will start promptly at 07:00 from the parking lot in the back of the Ramada Inn in Richland Center. The ride is $10 for advance registration, $15 on the day of the ride. On site registration will start at 06:15, please contact me at this email address if you wish to register in advance (much appreciated!). For those coming from out of town there are several relatively inexpensive hotels in Richland Center. Please let me know if you'd like more information about hotels.

I hope you'll be able to join us on what should be a very nice ride through the fall colors.  Please forward this email on to others who you think might be interested.

Hope to see you on the 11th!

Who are the Driftless Randonneurs?  Do they have a website or mail list of some sort?

I'm a little disappointed in the route. It's almost all alphabet roads. There are so many amazing B roads in this area that are super fun.

Granted, the route as planned is still going to be great as-is.

Only info I have is from RUSA site:
