BFF Bikes - New Bike Shop Opening in Chicago this March Geared Towards Women

My friends, Annie and Vanessa are opening a bike shop, BFF Bikes this spring that's geared towards biking/commuting women in Chicago. Women that ride and/or commute on their bikes all need more gear and apparel options and who better to bring it to Chicago than two lady racers that also commute?

Here's where BFF Bikes can use your help -
1. Check them out: http://chicago.racked.com/archives/2014/01/06/the-midwests-first-bi...
2. Fan their BFF Bikes FB page and/or sign up for updates on their website.
3. Get a BFF t-shirt or tune-up or a BIKE when you contribute to their Indie Gogo campaign:

Their campaign is off to a fantastic start but they can still use your help (and you get some pretty great swag in return). Thanks!!

We have lots of great shops that are owned and run by men who are supportive of the female commuting and racing contingent, but it is exciting to see a shop that will be owned and run by women for women.  I am not a racer, but I am a commuter and there are times when it would be nice to have that perspective.  It requires a lot less explaining!

Thank-you Lisa! We feel the same way.. We have loved our local Bike shops along the way, but there are great commuter items out there that those shops just don't want to take the risk on - and that's where we come in.

Like Riyoko - cute and FUNCTIONAL and Comfortable clothes for riding that you can wear to work, and out at night.

Good idea. Are there plans to sell WSD commuter bikes, as well?

Thanks for sharing!  I just contributed to their Indiegogo campaign.

Thanks yaj!!!! Your support means so much!! And thanks Yasmeen for posting this up!!!!

Ben, do you mean women's specific design?  Yes! We will have a women's specific commuter bikes!

Thank Yaj!!  <3 <3 <3

We are going to be carrying PUBLIC BIKES by far some of the MOST stylish practical commuter bikes out there! IN FACT you can get a GREAT deal on a Public C7 or Public V7 by Pre-ordering through our Indieogogo Campaign. WITH a free rack!

Great, I've been curious about PUBLIC bikes. Be good to see them in person. Good luck!

A friend told me about this last night, and I'm so pumped. Any chance of some sort of "saddle library" like Gladys up in Portland has?

Also, I've been trying to check out the indiegogo page, but it doesn't appear to be working. Not sure if that's something messed up on their end or not; just thought I'd mention it.

As far as the "saddle library" that is WHAT WE WERE thinking! only we didn't know about it at Gladys! But we did want to have a "Saddlesfaction Guarantee" where customers can try out several saddles before choosing the one that is best for them b/c who wants to spend $$ on a saddle that is uncomfortable.

And give the indiegogo a go again. it works for me in chrome on a mac. Try this link

Any sort of saddle program would be amazing! The lack of variety in women's saddles in shops along with having people who don't understand how to size what's usually a men's bike for a woman's body is something that is endlessly frustrating. I'm so excited for BFF!

And thanks for the link; Using Firefox on a crap Windows PC at work, so a lot of things don't load properly.

Saddle library would be awesommeee.  I can't find it now, but there was some device somewhere that was basically an adjustable height... thing... that allowed you to quickly and easily put different bike saddles in.  I would love to be able to use one of those, and have immediate feedback on whether or not a saddle was going to squish "certain bits"

YES YES YES ! this is why we NEED to exist! thanks lindsey
