Chicago Mac boat race...
if you are free tomorrow come down to Navy Pier and watch the boats parade by (10am - 1PM) before they head out on the 105th Chicago to Mackinac Island Race.
300 + boats head north tomorrow racing non stop 333 miles to Mackinac Island.
If you are there wave to us as we check in. Boat name Kashmir, boat type J111.

Mac? As in Apple? Macaroni? Ah, Mackinaw! Good luck - sounds like fun (well, not exactly fun, but a good challenge!)! Not sure what this has to do with bikes but I bet someone took their bike to the boat. May the bestest, wettest, boaters win!

That is why it is in general discussion! Also, if all you folks at Tour de Fat could blow hard toward the lake, the sailors will appreciate it. Nice day to sit on the lake--not so good for a race.
No bikes--even carbon fiber--on these boats. Not an ounce of extra weight allowed. :-)
But one of my bikes is on my boat. I am just sitting.

Here is a bad photo of Kashmir at check-in with Chainlinker Tim S aboard. Sorry I was so slow with the camera. They are about half-way up the lake now and currently 5th in their section. Winds overnight were good, but the forecast is for the wind to lighten. Good day for a bike ride. Not a good day to be sailing up Lake Michigan!

My co-worker crews on the Lugnuts, which is currently 2nd in their section.

Lugnuts is a cruising sailboat--they started Friday afternoon instead of yesterday. Slower boats, but nicer on board. Wind must be very light--current speed 3 knts! Still, they might get there today.

thanks for the updates folks...I had to work saturday a.m. and missed all the festivities; but we took Ripple out yesterday from Montrose Harbor and yes; the winds were pretty light. still - a bad day sailing beeats a great day at work anytime....

I would agree unless the flies descend! Then I would rather be anywhere else.
Lugnuts (Duppie's co-worker) finished today. As the boats finish and the handicaps are applied, positions change so even though they finished second in the class they might not end up in second place.
Our Chainlink friend Tim S is still out there with about 40 nautical miles to the finish. Terribly light winds, but they are speeding along at 2.8 knts.
