Another bike-related bust

According to the trib, a fence dealing in high end items just got busted in his home in Lincoln Park.  He apparently dealt in high end items which seems pretty accurate if he actually owns a place in Lincoln Park.  Anyhow, the items recovered included more than 80 bikes.  Looks like some people who've had bikes stolen might be in for some good news.  Anyone know how to get a description of the recovered bikes?

I would think you could submit an inquiry to the police, especially if you have the serial number of your bike, and they could tell you. Of course, it may be held as evidence for a while. I am only guessing, but Howard (H') might know- or may already be on the case.  I do know that if the stolen items recovered are not claimed or owners are not found within a certain time period, they go to public police auction I think twice a year.

I spoke with the desk sergeant at the 18th District and he knew nothing about this story. I'll call, and hope, I get someone else tomorrow.

I'm just curious.  Luckily I haven't had any bikes stolen so I'm good, but a friend did recover a bike that he built up from the Wilmette bust.  It'd be cool if the police publicized the bikes recovered so that people could check to see if their bike might be on the list.

This could be a mess. Secret Service was involved so they could prosecute at the Federal level. He cyber stalked to Cops so they will go after him locally as well. Would be nice if the bikes turned up.

The stolen goods he had included 50 strollers?  Who steals strollers?

Have you seen how much some of those strollers cost?  Some of the fancier ones go for well over a grand.

Wow.  I hope the bikes get back to their rightful owners. Please keep us updated.
