Bicycle Gestation Period?

I left my bike at work last night  to grab a concert dowtown (by El) and when I went to check on it this morning I got an unexpected surprise:

Now typically I'm about the last to notice when a woman is pregnant but I ride this thing every day. I might have noticed the ride a bit sluggish for the past few weeks but attributed that to crusty brake linkage.
