The Chainlink

How do folks feel about July 31 or August 14?  Both days have verrrry little in the way of conflicting bike events as yet, and each would give us enough time I think to get the plans laid.

I think the plan is still a Eurotrash ride.  Pleather pants, lots of shine, fake tans, slick hair.  Yes?

Okay I've reached out to Mr. Lab Rat and Dr. Demchuck about integrating the two events. But I know they'll have some questions... 1) What are the possibilities of getting a sound trailer that a DJ can perform on? 2) What can we offer the event coordinators in return for helping us out? How many people can we more or less guarantee to bring? and 3) What is the time line for this event? Their party starts at 9 so arriving early may bring that much needed zest to the beginning of any party. Or will we arrive fashionably late?
Not sure about the sound trailer. I might be able to acquire a portable PA that can run off a car battery. Barring a large enough trailer for somebody to properly DJ form, maybe we could attach the sound system to a trailer to a tandem and the DJ can ride stoker?

What can we offer? More publicity. More people who likely would not have attended otherwise. Fun awesome bikers. Last ride, there was still enough ice on the road that some streets on the original route were changed for safety, but at the peak I think we had about 20 people? So hopefully in warmer weather we'd have an even better turn out, but it's hard to guess til we get RSVPs coming in, and even that is not super reliable as we all know.

If we made the ride itself relatively short and start it relatively early, we could probably hit a couple of squares/parks/monuments for stand-up dance/booze breaks in addition to the mobile dancing and then be at Beauty Bar by.... 9:30? Front end party boost is maybe better for the bar and would make it easier for us to get a bunch of people in without worrying about maxed out capacity...

What do you think?

I haven't updated you guys on anything. They didn't have any problems. They'll promote us as soon as we have a start time and a location to meet up! I'm working on getting a sound trailer and a DJ from the Neon crew to join us.
Spencer I have a trailer that I wanted to eventually rig up to haul sound in CM...if you could help me get it together I'd be happy to haul it...I'm unemployed so I would need to rig it up on the cheap...it's just a trailer...I don't have any of the components for sound system yet but am willing to invest...as little as possible! let me know if you want to work with me on this...
This is great! Can we agree on 8pm to start then? Anybody have a special place they'd love to start the dance party? Anybody own a neon sign shop? Or a cheap divy bar that you'd like to throw business at who wouldn't mind us filling up their sidewalk?

Also, should we just call this RDDR:NEON APOCALYPSE, or something more punny... like... eh... RDDR:LET'S GLO or RDDR:NEONDEMAND or RDDR:GLO-ING GLO-ING GONE or... well, you get it. Ideas?

yay discussion/collaboration. YAY DANCING AND BIKING

Michelle, did you get a flyer and name figured out for this one? I like your suggestions. The Neon Apocolypse event organizers are already promoting their thing on facebook, it would probably be great to comment on it and our involvement in it to add some hype but I didn't know what to call it...maybe just RDRR at this point? :-) Want to make sure it's still on, too.
Maybe we could start in a park since it's so early? Just a thought. I have a Roland Micro Cube for music.
In the works. Agreed on starting at a park. Maybe something like the Logan Square monument? Our dance time there for the first RDDR was pretty fun and nobody seemed bothered (including the many cops who drove past). Also, that amp looks awesome!!

Spencer: Any word on the sound trailer?

I asked Todd again. Uno momento.
