Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

A few people declined but you were the only 'yes'. Thanks for understanding.

we'll postpone, and the f-12 will remain possible:

If the ride is postponed into the next month (e.g., a 4/25 ride postponed to 5/2), the scheduled month (in this case, April) gets credit.

i can't say i was looking forward to that big wind, anyway.

do you happen to remember, had anyone said they were coming? if so, did you notify them?

I’m disappointed, but I understand. Better safe than sorry. I don’t know if it would work to ride with a mask.

I realize you are all adults but there is concern and responsibility I feel about this and didn't feel right about having the event up. I do recommend you cancel to keep everyone safe and wait until it is safe to go on a group ride again.

A good test for myself moving forward with events - I have asthma and am hiding out to keep myself safe. If I get this virus it would be very dangerous for me. Would I attend this event? No, it would not be safe for me to do so because the risk is too great.

I do hope you continue to use this space to talk and connect and celebrate the day you can go on a ride together finally when it is all over. Stay safe.

Sorry, after sleeping on this and having a moderator I greatly respect reach out to me, I deleted the invite. Here is my worry - it's dangerous to ride in groups. Sure, you can try to get distance but god forbid anyone sneeze. God forbid anyone cough. Those are normal things to happen while you are riding and if someone is behind you, you can hit them with the spray and not even realize it.

It is also not recommended, while this is going on, to have group rides of any kind. While this feels like a lot to ask of normally social cyclists, when I think of the health care workers and other workers forced into dangerous exposure every day while all we have to do is not be around each other, yes, it does give me pause.

@Yasmeen how sweet, thank you. i just hope the governor and mayor don't over-react. the trick is staying between denial and panic.
