  • Chris

  • Anton

You live in Rogers Park? Me too. What do you ride?
  • Mikaela

well i live near wrigley, so its pretty dandy. i wouldn't call it a commute, more like a nice little ride :)

    what is yours like?
  • Kelly

    lincoln square
  • Mikaela

wow thats quite a commute - what do you do when it rains?
  • Mikaela

swim trunks are a great idea! im still a puss about riding in the rain :(
  • Chris

im selling a frame if interested let me knowhttp://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/bik/831668800.html
  • DavID

yeah, i got another one sketched....got a spot? i want it to last tho, that got dissed in like two days...
  • Ammo

    thanks for adding me =)
  • root

i don't work in a shop, but i sure as hell spend enough time in them getting help! are you in rapid transit or cycle smithy much?
  • Aya

the weather only really sucks half of the time. However, too spread out?! I think that's a plus. It allows for the growth of these little unique communities that really diversify the city (like Pilsen!). Plus it's pretty flat, so riding around town isn't difficult, just lengthy. In a rural/urban neighborhood, you wouldn't be able to find more than 3 cool spots within 10 miles - I think we have it pretty good here...
  • ZC

Not born, spent Jr. High and some of high school in NorCal, then my college was in Socal. All in all, Chicago is better, though a bit colder! It took some getting used to!
  • CV

am I stepping on your toes by having another Chris here?
  • Julie Aberman (Hochstadter)

sorry we missed you! I was there at 8:15. Next time we will start this a bit earlier in the day...and i'll leave my cell phone if I'm organizing it.
  • vxla

Yep, the DQ is on Irving Park just west of Central.
  • Aya

    play music? what kind?
  • brandon lee*

    nice t-shirt.
  • brandon lee*

i listen to just about anything but metal i my main choice. i actually saw cephalic carnage with between the buried and me, black dahlia murder, and into the moat like 2 years ago. amazing. i moved up here from south bend, indiana. have fun in the rain. i'll be doing the same soon.
  • Ashley

The US Government is encouraging people to eat Louisiana swamp rats. Is that cool enough?
  • Ashley

ahhh....the pressure! How about I broke my collarbone while wrestling with a national guardsman and now my collarbone is all kinds of goofy? or....ah shit I'm tired and am having a hard time being creative. I respond better to direct questions ;o) and hey, why does that have to be one sided? Why don't you tell ME something cool.
  • brandon lee*

i live in west logan square, just off of belmont. you?
  • Ashley

Oh la la! I would be excited too. I know I was dying waiting for my bike, then I found out they'd lost my order. So that whole time I'd been waiting it hadn't even been started....sheer

  • Ashley

i know i know i know, i changed that yesterday, keep up ;o)

I could be riding fixed, but yes...it would still have brakes.
  • Ashley

Yeh, I haven't ridden fixed very much...I'm waiting for someone to show me all the ropes and secrets. But if I was riding consistently, I'd still want a brake. I'm too chicken for any of that riding no brake, a big gulp in one hand and texting in the other crap
  • Ashley

oh and I meant it would still have brakes because I have a flip flop and it would be on the same frame...but yeh either way
  • Danielle

Oh not much, just new to this thing. How are you?
  • Danielle

You must be talking about the Spumoni bike. Looks yummy!
  • Danielle

I'm riding a 1990-something Raleigh Technium frameset with all new components. New BB, crankset, stock bars chopped and flipped, hand built wheels by myself (velocity deep v's), fenders, surly hubs, blah blah. I'll post a photo at some point. I'm also working on a new geared project for the winter. Do you ride the Spumoni bike around, or do you have a beater bike?
  • Kate

    Dig your ice cream ride.
  • Danielle

Well that's cool. It's not terribly difficult to build wheels, but the learning process can be taxing, and the practicing process can be frustrating for sure. It'll really take some time to really learn everything, especially since I've only been cycling for a year and counting.
  • olive

    hi there. how are you?
  • olive

riding my fixed gear. i just put a picture up of her. have we met before?
  • Lauren Eby

    hello
  • Jessica

Hey there! They're hooks for body suspension. If you know Ammo...ask her about it too. :)
  • olive

ah, i see. thanks. the bare bars are because a friend of mine wants to trade stems so, i just didn't put bar tape on. its been about four or five months since he said that, and he still hasn't come for it. so i guess i should do something about that. but i ride with gloves, so it all works out. i live in lincoln park near depaul, where i go to school. what about you? sweet icecream themed bike, btw.
  • Mikaela

lol! funny you speak of falling off, cuz i did recently....and broke my toe :( but im fine now!

how have you been? It has been a while since i've been on here!
  • brandon lee*

i ride an 07 giant bowery fixed. it's decent, light and snappy. but i need to do some upgrading. and i really want to do a build this winter... something i'll only break out in the sunlight.
  • Chi Tour de Cure

Heya Chris, thanks for checking in. The jersey in my avi is two or three years old. They've gotten much better looking - even my racing snob friends agree. I might actually have to get a pair of white assos shorts to go with this year's version... but I'm not sure I'm ready for such a big step. Tour de Cure is the primary fundraiser for the ADA and the jerseys are open to anyone that rides the event and raises a certain level of donations ($500 in 08). HowEVER, I'm also working on a new program that might have a jersey associated with it... check back with me later this fall!
  • megadeth

sorry guys, it's just an old nickname. i can and never will be as cool as the man who was fired from metallica for being too much of a drunk.
  • KIM

A mountain bike, although recenty rode my friend's road bike on a couple rides and would really like to get a second bike....and you?
  • niconico

yessir... i'm a messenger down there. if it was a purple bike... it was i.
  • Tom Nguyen

mhm. yes sir it is. did you used to go there/here?
