Bicycle Astronomy

This is a group dedicated to pursuing amateur astronomy using bicycles as a means to get to sites for viewing. You don't need to own your own telescope, but the more the merrier. You should of course own a bicycle, and be interested in amateur astronomy. Anyone with an interest in astronomy will be welcomed from neophytes to experts.

The clouds have miraculously cleared away over Chicago and viewing for the Supermoon Lunar Eclipse should be spectacular ! Come on down to the Planetarium, or if you're on your bike pull over, find a clear viewing spot and look up towards the South east ! Starts after 8pm.

Note: kiltedcelt, if you're still out there, please let us know?

Observe the equinox on the 606 with Alder's "Scopes in the city" program on Wednesday evening September 23.

The Adler Planetarium's "Scopes in the city" program will set up free telescopes for an evening of sky watching at the observatory area at the western end of the 606, the trailhead at Ridgeway, on Wednesday evening September 23, at 6:30pm - 9pm.
Bike on down the 606 and we will see you at the "Scopes in the city" event !

A Supermoon is the moon during Perigee.  How close does the Perigee and Full moon / Eclipse have to occur?  24 hours?
