vintage road bikes

for those who dig the vibe of the road bikes of the 70's 80's and early 90's with all their downtube shifting glory.

Thanks, Mark.  I will remember that.

James, once this latest crisis is taken care of, I think my bike and I should come down and meet you.

I always take my 1987 Trek 400 (that I ride year-round) to Uptown Bikes.  They enjoy working on vintage bikes, and have many older new and used parts that I couldn't find at other bike shops.  Big John is my favorite mechanic.

my 1970's (?) Columbia Sport is starting to have some issues and i haven't found a mechanic i like.  most bike shops seem interested in working on newer bikes and don't have the patience for mine--and that's if they even admit to knowing what to do with it.  anyone have a mechanic they trust close to the north side?

thanks!

The Manor & Meadow Tour

is a mere sixty days out.  I still need committments for volunteers to be ride marshalls.  Marshalls will assist the Ride Captain keeping the group together and handling enroute breakdowns.  PM me via The Chainlink if you'd like to help out.

Selling a 49-50cm Sentinel with 5-speed Shimano 600/60 and bar-end shifters if anyone is interested in restoring it. Paint is really beat up, but no dents on the frame. Lots of surface rust all over. Shimano front hub, Mallard rear, SR stem, SR bars, Shimano Tourney brakes and cranks. There's an ancient Cycle Smithy sticker on it too!
