i remember the keg selection in zion being sub par for us beer worshippers.  maybe pick up a decent one in chicago?

easy flag idea...

the sun is really a cog.  the A is the tent from the sign.

to add to the design, we could also do some slightly curved pine trees on both sides on the tent that suspiciously resemble some phalic symbol

That looks good to me. Anyone with sewing skills want to volunteer to make a nice one? If not I’ll make a stencil and we can spray paint the pattern on to as many ghetto flags as we want.

Cam volunteering me for domestic duties gets him in trouble.

That said if he picks up the materials and helps me cut out the fabric I'll sew up a flag for us. :)

Ok so now the debate is color scheme, I'm thinking either:

a: white background, red for your graphic and a blue stripe top and bottom

b: white for your graphic and DNR brown for the background

I'm wondering if Apr. 30 isn't a bit early for our Zion trip.  Last Saturday, I tried to get my tent poles and carrying bag back from Sherper's in Hales Corners to no avail.  Since Milwaukee County buses go no farther than Southridge Mall in Greendale or 108th & I-43, I have to use my bike to get to Sherper's.  When I got to Southridge Mall last Saturday, I might as well have been in a snow globe.  Soon, I turned around, caught the next bus, and headed home.  The past couple of days haven't been all that much better.  Can we pick another date when weather is less of a factor?

I hear what you're sayin' Barry, the snow on the ground yesterday morning near Lawrence and California caught me off guard 2b sure, but the Forecast for Zion looks o.k., for now, looks like a front will come through about 3 days b4 us.  In a couple days we will get within range of the 10 day forecast, if anyone wants to not go because of weather I would wait until at least then. Anyway, Melanie and I are in, unless there is a tornado.  We don't like tornado's. :).  I wonder, if we get some of those little mixed drink umbrellas and put them in our beers, could we keep the rain water out of our drinks?  Personally, I smile at the image of all of us in rain slickers, circled around a raging hot fire, holding our beer cups with little umbrellas, toasting "Pitching a Tent", followed by an outrageously loud cheer. I  can make A REALLY HOT fire and I'm seriously thinking about bringing a coffee machine.  I fall asleep too early when I drink more than two beers. :) .... ah, but I'm a romantic who's likely a little too far out of touch with reality anyway.  I wouldn't pay me any mind.  Did I tell you my cow joke?  :D

No need for a coffee pot, use instant espresso, its really good

Also if the ride there/home is awful, we can always jump on the metra.

There's also 3 hotels for those who don't want to spend the night outdoors.

The resort at Illinois beach state park is actually quite nice.  It looks like rooms would be about $119 for April 30th. We took a trip there last year and really enjoyed it.  The restaurant in the hotel isn't bad either.

Hope that the group has a good time!

Liz:

1st, The Flag:  Option B, I've always had a "thing" for DNR Brown.  It must be all those pre-memory camping trips, or maybe it's just that it matches my rain shoes.

2nd, The Espresso: Awesome, but I still need hot water.  Maybe just bring the coffee maker to make hot water for ALL SORTS of drinks, including the Espresso!  You are brilliant Liz! The first cup of Espresso, or any hot drink, is on me.  :D  I'm glad you're coming.  THIS IS SO GREAT! Anyone else getting excited???
