Randonneuring Defined

Randonneuring: Randonneuring is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount. When riders participate in randonneuring events, they are part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginning of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring.

Spent a little time tonight looking over 2012's brevet cards (thanks, Jim & ACP,) analysing where on the course i lost or gained time from ride to ride. Golly, i'm sloooow... Did three Delavan 200's, and it was interesting to compare times between certain controls on the different dates. i'm curious to compare how it will play out in '13 if we use the same course.

Hi Loan, sorry for late response, I did not have the answer until recently. My wife decided to join me, so we will be on a tandem bike, and will most likely do the shortest (25 mile) route.

Colorburst Bicycle Tour seems interesting. I like fall colors, and might be able to attend that ride.

Hi Ilter,

I'm indeed looking at Apple Cider as well, very doable for me as it's only 60 miles from Chicago. I also like Colorburst Bicycle Tour. You must go for the centuries I suppose?

I am riding ODRAM (this Sat) & AppleCiderCentury in September. So is Mr. Zamora. What other rides are there in MI?

Anyone is up for upcoming century rides in MI?

Now that the GLR schedule is over, I thought I would let everyone know that the Minnesota Randonneurs are holding 200km brevets on back to back days in Black River Falls, WI on September 15 and 16. These are generally on quiet country roads with plenty of hills.

Jim: I also plan to ride the 200K Saturday...assuming I dont sleep through the alarm.
