Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

Routes on Ride with GPS, here.

On Facebook, here.

On Twitter, here.

Lists of breweries and brewpubs (and other beer things): on Facebook, and on Twitter.

Up-to-date map (with a list, postal- and web-addresses and phone numbers, where available). Five hundred thirty (530!) so far.

I'll ask whether Flesk is going to be opened . . . But local places should be fine, too. Dryhop will be opened by then, for example.

So this is getting a little ahead but is anyone else taking or have the day off on Friday July 5th and up for a ride?  I have no idea where or how far so open to suggestions if there's interest.  It can even be local spots like Revolution's Tap Room.

Swans were considered a delicacy by (and for) the nobles in Middle Ages, but I don't think people eat 'em anymore, especially if there are tasty ducks and geese around ;)

Last year when we did this there were a lot of Mute Swans and possibly some Trumpeter (unlikely) Swans as well. I'll be bringing binoculars this time. Bring your appetite and space to carry back some beer from the pub.

Swans for lunch with beer? Sweet!

Great! If I'm not too tired after riding to the Pig Minds and Carlyle the day before, I'll go.

This is how we got there, if anyone's interested.

OK, it's shaping up: I'll be at the CTA Addison Blue Line station at 9 in the morning, will take the train to Cumberland, and ride from there. Whoever wants to join us, either meet us at Addison or at Cumberland.

Aha! Great. Hopefully, I'll not have to work (there's very little chance that I'll be needed, as it stands now).

Just in case, my no. is seven sever three seven three three 1961.
