Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

Routes on Ride with GPS, here.

On Facebook, here.

On Twitter, here.

Lists of breweries and brewpubs (and other beer things): on Facebook, and on Twitter.

Up-to-date map (with a list, postal- and web-addresses and phone numbers, where available). Five hundred thirty (530!) so far.

Interesting... Never heard of that one, Steve. They claim to be better than Google.

(I can't spell today, apparently.)

I belong to a riding group that uses groups.io

Messaging apps, sure. I use (and like) Google Voice, for example. But, as some of our regulars (no fingerpointing here) are smart enough to stay away from their "smart" phones... ;)

I haven't used Google Groups actively for quite a while. Almost forgotten about it. Worth a (re)try, perhaps.

But, it seems, we don't have to rush.

And yes, Yasmeen, your post was indeed invisible, for some reason. Or, at least, delayed somehow.

Okay thanks Yasmeen.

As for other ideas, I think some messaging apps can be used on desktop browsers.

Ok, I guess my post was invisible...

Maintaining a group at Meetup is $24 a month (cheaper if you pay for 6 months). Just as an info, for now.

Comment by Serge Lubomudrov on August 18, 2020 at 2:33pm

Well...

There are alternatives.

I understand not everyone uses (even if owns) a "smart" phone, which allows to send/receive group SMS.

Meetup?

Any other ideas?

...Speaking of the upcoming weekend and the next one: I'm off this fin de semana, and I have Friday the 28th off. I'm pen for suggestions and will let you know if I come up with any ;)

Google Groups works well for another ride group Im in (although riding solo these days).

Nah, don't worry. I'm trying to think through how to support the group concept. Plus, this isn't going to happen tomorrow. Just worried about the vibe on the general forum and it'll take time to put something in place.
