Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

520 W Harrison St. 311 reports submitted.

125 S Franklin St. 311 reports submitted. The Prius driver was a classic a**hat. After snapping the photo, I walked up to the driver's side, and tapped on the window. The driver rolled down the window and said, "If you touch my car again, I'm going to get out and kick your f*cking a**". I said, "Oh, so you want me to call the police and let them sort it out? OK". I then pulled out my phone and dialed 911. Of course the dipsh*t pulled away. This incident once again points out the uselessness of calling 911. By the time I was connected, he was gone. I told the 911 operator that I was threatened by the driver of a vehicle illegally parked in the bike lane, but there's not a whole lot that could be done at that point.

225 N Franklin St. 311 site not responding. WTF.

how do you have so much time to devote to this?

I would say half the time I bike through Grand, Halsted, and Milwaukee, there is a semi truck blocking the bike lane on milwaukee to unload for the 7/11 at the corner. But seeing this really peeved me off.. Who the hell does this guy think he is?

I would have ridden into it on purpose.

"What's up guys? Is this part of the bike lane?"

I'm guessing there is no alternative such as a loading dock? He thinks he is a person with a job to do and no way to do it without breaking the law and endangering people?

Red light for cyclists means "stop," not play Frogger with pedestrians. And for this thread, bike lanes are for bikes, not for parking when you need to pay bills. Was I too much of a jerk?

I would have engaged that driver. So definitely not too much of a jerk in my mind.

I think she was married ;)

"Kick-a-cone" is my new favorite cycling game.
