Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

This is nearly the same spot as last time.

Yep. Wouldn't be surprised if it's the same truck....

This week Chainlink tweeted out pics to companies and the Interwebs provided by Chainlinkers in this thread. Thanks for your help! Let's definitely keep these coming.

One more update: Pace has been really great about acknowledging, apologizing and even sending a thank you to us. In addition, they put out a message on Twitter and FB to warn drivers to respect the bike lanes.

Maybe you'll have better luck than I with Pace, this is an ongoing problem at the Kluczynski federal building and they haven't been responsive to my emails at all.  I gave up emailing and just started posting the photos on Twitter.

The bike lane is a sausage fest

Am I the only one that sees this and can't help but think how horrible the costume would be to run in? Why is this a thing? I'm not familiar with this with the van (in the bike lane) and the cop on the motorcycle.

The "sausage fest" text is a link. Briefly, every 7th inning stretch of a Milwaukee Brewers' home game, the sausages (polish, brat, hot dog, italian and chorizo) race from third base to first base. A quick google search and you'll see tons of articles and videos. It's become so popular that other baseball teams have copied the idea (Nationals' racing presidents; Indians' hot dog derbies; KC Royals; Pittsburgh racing pierogies).

Today is opening day for MLB, and the sausages were in a relay race from the Klements sausage factory to Miller Park, where the Brewers play.

Is that in Milwaukee for the Brewers opening day?

(And yes, that has got to be awful to run in!)

Thanks for the background. I was completely unfamiliar. :-)

I'm surprised nobody posted anything about this morning's surprise heavy snow in the Dearborn bike lane by the Federal Plaza, courtesy of a location shoot last night.  Might have been for the Chicago Fire TV show, but I'm not 100% sure.  Whatever it was, it had a Christmas theme - the reason for the decorations that temporarily adorned the plaza in the last few days.

there is fertilizer and weed abatement mixed into that water, so it still is useful even when it is raining. Still no excuse to block the whole bike lane
