What are the most underrated cycling accessories that actually make a big difference?

Honestly? Bike lights.

I used to think bike lights were only for people who commute at night. But after a few sketchy rides around dusk—and one too many cars passing way too close—I realized they’re one of the most important yet underrated accessories you can invest in.

Even during the day, a flashing rear light can massively increase your visibility, especially when the sun’s low or you're riding through shaded areas. And for early morning or evening rides, a solid front light is a game-changer.

I ride mostly on mixed terrain—sometimes city streets, sometimes trails—so I wanted something compact but powerful. I’ve been using lights from Gaciron, and they’ve held up super well in all kinds of weather and conditions.

A few models to consider:

  • KIWI 400 – sleek and powerful enough for city use

  • Raptor 1800 or 3000 – for those pitch-black trail missions

  • Rear lights with auto brake detection – surprisingly handy!

Moral of the story: if you ride often (even just casually), don’t overlook the lights. Visibility = safety, and peace of mind is priceless.
