Western Illinois Death March: A Spooky Train-Bike-Train Trip

On Halloween weekend I took a very fun little train-bike-train trip to visit old friends in Macomb, IL, and Kirksville, MO. Fittingly, death was a recurring theme on this trip, including gory Halloween decorations, a pilgrimage to the site of Mormon prophet Joseph Smith's martyrdom, a 120-mile death march of a bike ride, and a visit to an anatomy lab to view a dissected corpse:

Keep moving forward,

Bump for a nice report.  Check out the blog if you haven't done so.

John, if you ever want to ride in the Illinois River area, get in touch with me.  Amtrak to Princeton, ride in the afternoon, back to Chicago on the evening train.  Anyone that's interested is welcome.  Here's a pic from a ride in September, the river is in the distance, downstream from LaSalle/Peru.

Thanks Mark! I may well take you up on your offer.
