If you are heading to any of the local REI stores and you are a smart phone user, be sure to "check-in" using your mobile facebook app. For every check-in REI donates a dollar to Friends of the Parks! Details below...

REI & Facebook have teamed up to donate $100,000 to local non-for-profit partners! Beginning today (11/5/2010) when you use your Facebook mobile app to check-in at your local REI store, REI will donate money to our long time community partner: Friends of the Parks!
Friends of the Parks is a non-profit advocacy organization, dedicated to preserving, protecting, and improving Chicago's parks and forest preserves for all citizens.

Checking-in is easy!
If you already have the Facebook app on your phone, you can “check-in” at REI by following these steps:
Open the Facebook app on your phone
On your personal profile page touch the location icon next to the “what’s on your mind?” field. The location icon is shaped like a tear drop.
The screen will show a list of nearby locations. Select REI. Once you’ve checked-in, your Facebook status will show the location where you’ve checked-in and you will receive a message letting you know that REI has just made a donation to Friends of the Parks.

The program will end when REI registers 100,000 total check-ins across
all REI locations - so don't delay!
