Question about my shifters

So yeah, I am finally getting around to giving my mtb a little tlc. The problem is that I want to replace my shift cables, and I have no clue on how to go about doing it. I have shimano 8-speed trigger types.

My question is, do I have to take them apart to insert the new cable? I have inspected them, and I can't tell how to route the cable back in. They are shimano 8-spd EF-50.

Thanks for any help. It might be something pretty obvious, I have had a couple Newcastles...

Exploded diagrams can be a big help too. However, I'm not sure whether the ones linked at the bottom of this page are the same as yours as I'm not much of a Shimano guy.

the answer is more new castle and the solution shall come in a drunken epiphany that will likely involve 'duck' tape, a few zip ties, wd40 in place and applications in dont belong...and a trip to the bike shop to just do it for you.

i dont really mean any of that.

Yeah, it was the screws I had to take off. Thanks you guys, i have only done STI before, so this was a learning experience.

@iggi, that might have actually happened! I would have woke up tomorrow, looked at my repair job and wonder why the duct tape was there, but still tried to ride it...
