Erin&Me can't do Sunday but we're gonna' bike over from Oak Park, late morning tomorrow. If there's anybody who wants to come with us, just contact me through globalguy at gmail. Also, check out this great Op-Ed piece in today's NYTimes by Mr. Krugman, "Confronting the Malefactors".

I personally feel that while it appears that they're just walking around and complaining a lot, they're doing something very, very important: stimulating conversation.

Care to wager why they aren't paying anything? Half are households are making less than $20k a year. Another big group are the elderly (a.k.a. retired and not earning incomes). Then there are the unemployed, Of course, even those who are working but not paying federal income taxes are still paying federal payroll taxes.

In response:

"People without jobs have plenty of time to protest government-funded million-dollar bonuses for white collar criminals, courtesy of the working-class taxpayer (the only kind of American receiving zero government support at the moment)."

... are the working-class taxpayers part of the 45% of American households who don't pay Federal income tax because of targeted tax deductions and other subsidies? (Ref:http://money.cnn.com/2011/04/14/pf/taxes/who_pays_income_taxes/inde... ) Or does the working-class taxpayer include the students who, each year, receive taxpayer subsidized loans and grants to the tune of approximately $80 billion? Do working class tax payers work for one of the companies that received billions in SBA-subsidized loans and grants last year?

Maybe I'm ignorant as to what exactly the Occupy groups are doing, but as far as I see, all they seem to be doing is walking around and complaining. I definitely agree with their complaint, and would want to help with making a change..especially since I was raised at the extreme bottom of the financial food chain, due to corporations destroying the city I grew up in, in Michigan. I just don't think a protest is the right approach. Most protesters are just all voice and no action, so it just…
