Can anyone testify firsthand to the current conditions of the North Branch Trail? I'm going for a ride tomorrow, and I already have a Plan A, but Plan B will be taking the fun-fun bike up to the gardens via the NBT and then further north on streets. While streets have been fine for ages, I don't take too much for granted when it comes to the off-street stuff that doesn't see winter maintenance. I'm not going to risk wiping out on a patch of ice in a shady bend at 20mph.

I haven't taken it in a while but I glance into it off Illinois Road/Winnetka Road on my way home daily.  It didn't look great yesterday in terms of being thawed out.  It is so shaded in many parts that it just doesn't thaw as quickly as you would think.  I would stick to Green Bay road for a ride up to Lake Cook or Dundee.

Thanks, Dave. I think I'll stay off it for a while longer and stick to Sheridan if I go up there.

I rode it two weeks ago and it (always) gets bad on the portion along Hams Road between Golf and Glenview Roads. But Hams is pretty navigable until Lake Ave.  Let us know - I may want to take a shot at it early next week :)

The area on Harms between Golf and Glenview roads are much more open and get a lot more sun.  Between Glenview Rd and Illinois Rd it is very shaded.

Anybody have any status updates? I plan to ride it tomorrow morning and was wondering whether any ice remains.
