The Chainlink

I just got my bike stolen outside of Smart Bike Parts in Logan Square. Its a 2011 Tommaso Classic root beer color with blue deep vs, mustache handle bars, and beige wrap. It was stolen at 5:45 pm on 12-17-11 by a theif wearing all black 5'5-5'9. He cut the straps off the car rack the bike was hanging off of and fled heading south on Whipple from Armitage. Please contact Tomas @ 773-782-5340 if you have any info. I can offer a reward as well. Thank you very much.

Ouch.  I'm sorry, Tomas.  Make sure you file a report with the police and on http://chicago.stolenbike.org/ ASAP.  Hope you get your bike back soon.

I live nearby so I'll have my eyes open for your bike. Pretty unique parts on it.

Good luck!

Tomas, sorry about your bike.  Do you have a way to prove it's yours if someone does spot it?

Ideally they would be able to look up the police report number on your http://stolenbike.org listing and call 911 for help before even alerting you. E-mail info@stolenbike.org with the police report number and any additional info you want added to the report.

Sorry to hear.

Occasionally police will tell you that you can't file a report without the serial number.

There is actually no advantage to doing it in person-- best bet is to call 311 late at night when hold times are minimal. They can give you the report number over the phone.

When my bike got stolen I stopped in a police station to file a report. They actually wouldn't take my report in person and told me that I had to call 311. I don't know if that's the way it's supposed to work. I guess all that matters is that the report got filed. Just curious if anyone knows if it is policy or procedure that the reports are to be done through 311.

Sorry about your bike. That sucks
