Awww...I'm happy to amuse you. I feel as if I needed to 'splain why no bloggin' is going down.  As you can probably tell, I've had a boring (couch, cough, couch, cough, crossword puzzle, movie, lather, rinse, repeat) and rather irritable-making week.  Can you believe this? Someone stole my Snack Hound!

I mean, jimminy! That thing has been in our foyer since 2008. Our investigation has revealed that the Snack Hound was taken at some point after 9:30 pm on Sunday and noon on Monday. That's as far as we've gotten. No leads are turning up although we do have a search party out looking for the Snack Hound.

 

In the meantime, a new Snack Hound has just been procured from eBay less than 1 hour ago, but I know that he will not be the same Snack Hound. The real Snack Hound remains forever in our hearts. It is not easy to replace him, but we will have our new candy-filled friend in about 5 business days.

 

/cold medicine induced mania.

I think my goggles may be on their last leg (or its last leg??).... they (it) have (has) been my savior.

Tonights ride was quite chilly but fun. I stopped by blvd for the music night (thanks john greenfield).

It sure has been cold so I guess it's not the worst time to be sick. I miss riding and I feel fat.

I took it easy today. After one too many beers last night, I rode my bike to the Metra station this morning.

I can see why my co-workers who take the train in complain about the cold. Standing still on the platform is no fun on days like this

Today was pretty rad. I got jump a snow bank on the way in on Hubbard! Plus the bridges are nice and slick. Hope everyone had a safe ride and that there is a nice glass of whiskey waiting for you when you get home.

Thanks, Duppie! Glad you enjoyed it. (I'm starting to find my "sea legs" on the blog.)

 

I did take a little-tiny ride yesterday. By little-tiny, I mean not big-huge. I think it's really cold outside, but what do I know? I've been brutalized by this illness so everything is a little skewed. Whatever the case, keep on winter biking, y'all. As for me, I'm still winter carring until I feel better.

Egads--we have been having quite the proper winter, eh? I am really starting to wonder where all those "mild" 30 degree days are. I really salute those of you who are tackling your first bike winter--Holly, Sarah. . . who else? I have been out on my bike pretty much every day (more habit than bravado) and am so thankful that I know how to stay warm enough--knowledge earned over years.

 

What do folks think about having some sort of celebration for those in their first season, maybe the weekend of the cycle swap? I was thinking a celebration of those who have made it so far and a "it's not too late" for people who want to get back into their biking habit. . .or perhaps a "it's not too early" to get ready for spring. Maybe with a BW how/why to workshop featuring some of our new veterans?If this idea gets some traction, I reckon protocol would suggest taking the convo to another thread, or the bike winter group. Just wanted to toss it out there.

At least it's sunny!

The -5 to -10 wind chill is a major bummer when exiting a bar 5 miles away from home at 3am. At least I'm sober when I get home. I think I'm just going to stop drinking... or maybe not. I refuse car rides home because I need to feel "manly"

16 miles today, low winds, a good day for winter riding. Potholes on southport are getting pretty bad.
