Today was the perfect day to ease into winter biking for my 8 mile commute.  No wind, and I didn't have hand issues which are usually a problem.  Looking forward to biking by all the traffic on the way home.

awesome! I love those days.

To those who rode the lakefront path today, is there much ice on the pavement? I've been avoiding the path all week (because I seem to be more prone than most to be overcome by the forces of gravity when trying to ride over ice.)   But I really don't want to deal with traffic on local streets for my commute home today, so I'm hoping maybe the path isn't too icy. I checked the ActiveTrans "lakefront trail conditions" twitter and there's nothing new since last week, so I'm hoping some Chainlinkers can report back about the path. Thanks!

Didn't ride today, but it was fine yesterday morning. I think the Chicago Park Department does a good job keeping it passable (plow, salt, etc, where necessary).

From Montrose to Blemont the lakefront trail was well salted with a few puddles and a periodic ice puddle that was easily spotted and avoided.

Nice ride home tonight. Wind died down and 30deg felt pretty warm after the cold snap.

Tonight was brisk cold clean air. Rode 9 miles to my Mom's for Thanksgiving dinner. Rode home with pannier stuffed full of leftovers. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

yea, I looked at the predictions for the weather (a slow gradual decline) and headed out.  It was nearing 50 when I left and when I pulled out from Trader Joes it was getting a bit more nasty. Glad I headed out when I did.

Cold and dry and the salt dust hasn't gotten heavy yet. Nice week for riding!
