I noticed last fall, so it's been around a while.  Kept figuring maybe it's beta and they'd announce when they're ready, like they did for outer space and under sea, but I've yet to hear mention so thought I would.

If you're zoomed out and drag the watcher around it can be seen that they've done the lake front path from Hollywood to Indiana, and some other paths such as the North Branch Trail.  It even covers winding areas such as Montrose Pier and Northerly Island.  I'd assume they used a trike.

I'm way impressed.  One could lose hours reminiscing or planning with it.

To use it simply go to maps.google.com, navigate over a bike path and keep zooming in.  When you're maxi-close it switches to street view.

Good to know. Thank you!

We were surprised to find that someone besides Serge was taking photos of the bike ambassadors!

You never know who will end up in a Google street view image. When they originally did our street, the scene in front of our house showed the kid playing in the driveway next door.

Awesome!  I thought this might turn into people finding and publishing weird and/or interesting things seen on the path.  I found it hard to get an exact link to a given street view spot, but you seem to have managed, although that might actually be a geotagged user photo, which is a slightly different thing.

Here's the backstory on Google Street View's tricycle and operator.  I've also read they've got some staff doing it on foot.

I was in a Google Street photo at one time, but they updated the area and I'm no longer there.
